Richard Robert Nagy died on November 21st 2013. in Ontario, California. He was only 34 year old.
Commonly known as Doc or Datamancer, he made a name for himself by combining art and technology.
He turned everyday items, like keyboards and phones, into something that looked like it came from steampunk movie set.
In early 2000’s, when steampunk really started to grow in popularity, many people started seeing this beautifully crafted, steampunk inspired items on the internet.
Everybody wanted to know more and see more of his work.
For many among the community, his work was first contact with steampunk.

He brought steampunk inspired technology from fiction to reality. Fully functional, delight to see, his work left millions speechless.
Many wished they could buy at least one of his pieces, even if they weren't part of steampunk community.
To own and use one of his works must have been a unique experience

Details and craftsmanship of his work are pure steampunk perfection.
It was all any steampunker ever dreamt of: keyboard that looked like old typewriter, wooden laptop with brass ornaments, lamp made to look like old gaslight…
He worked out of love, practically unpaid, and purely for art

Out of respect for a great guy and his art, if you know artist whose work you really like, let them know.
If you can buy an item from an artist, buy it. Let them know you appreciate their work.
One day, they might be gone, never knowing how many people actually liked their work, and that is the saddest thing of all.
